Camera & Audition
At VFS, the focus is on preparing actors for the camera, from your very first audition to the last take of the day on a major film shoot.
Introduction to Camera
A film actor must be able to hit one or more marks, stay within the key lights, keep a proper eyeline, and maintain continuity between takes, all while committed to the character throughout a full day on set. You'll also learn the basic techniques needed to create a convincing 'walk and talk', where the camera and the actors are constantly moving through the whole scene. From the lighting and sound departments to makeup and cinematography, identifying the roles and responsibilities of a film crew will help you appreciate the complexity of a film shoot and where fit in.
Audition Technique
You must dig as deep into your character as you can possibly go to nail the audition. This course is a high-impact introduction to the challenges of auditioning for film, television, and commercial roles. You're given an insiders look at what the audition process like, who the players are in the room with you, and what is expected of an actor in this kind of professional, high-intensity situation. The business and the craft of auditioning are studied through a variety of simple scenes that you prepare for, rehearse, then perform for the camera.
